The Blind Side Book Review

The Blind Side By- Michael Lewis

Theme of this book is never to give up no matter what happens in life, always take a chance and believe every second because everything can take a huge turn.A young man name Michael Oher has no chance in life, living on the street doing his best to live by whatever he can.

Style is very different using words and meanings that help express the feelings of the people and even the author. Writing in many ways to show there is a different expression for each and every paragraph. I love the fact that the book is more about real life then just a fairy tale.

Michael Oher is the main character in this book. As the story goes on, you then meet a wonderful loving and caring family the Tuohy's. Michael and the Tuohy family become very close to once another. They take him in as their own and raise him to be an amazing football player and young man.t Becoming apart of the family he fitted perfectly in. Enjoyed watching football and even other sports. Tuohy's became a family that Michael never really had.

Setting is during the fall time with lots of rain and leaves falling everywhere. Plus it is the season every fan loves the most which is football. Michael does not go to school, until he meets the Tuohy family, never played football, I guess you can say he never really had a child hood like most teens do. Michael was very protected of his family and did not want anything bad to happen, so he did his best to protect.

The Blind Side, is an amazing book, at first I did not think I would like just because the fact that football is the setting. Reading this book chanced my thoughts about many ideas that pop in and out of my head. We should love everything about our life because some day we might not have it. Michael had nothing and whenever he did get the chance to have anything, he did not take advantage.

If you enjoy sports and love hearing about miracles in others life I believe you should read this book and see where Michael and the Tuohy family ended up and also how much they had to battle.

Agrument: Texting in School

Assertion/Claim:
  • Students should be able to text before classes and during lunch.

Evidence:
Being able to text before classes and during lunch would allow the students to not have to sneak around.
  • Commentary 1: Each and every teacher knows that we text during their before or class and during lunch, so if they would give us permission it would not be such a big deal.
  • Commentart 2: Althoug the vast majority of teens surveyed said they’ve been able to fly under the radar while texting in class.

Most students will say the only reason they text during a class is because of the big deal it makes.
  • Commentary 1: It is apart of the teen culture to text,  but sometimes we do not even think about it during class we just feel it vibrate and pull it out as if we was at our house.
  • Commentart 2:The survey found that 17 percent of the kids who text in class said they did so "constantly" and more than half say they text friends who are sitting in the same class; 22 percent said they’ve texted answers to classmates struggling to answer a teacher’s question.
Opposing Claims/they say:
  • Many teachers believe that students only use texting during school hours to cheat.
My Rebuttal/I say/:
  • However, it is simply not true that we just want to text during school to cheat, we want to text during school is just another way for us to talk to our friends that we might not have that class period with or we do not go to the same school.
My Paragraph
Students should be able to text before classes and during lunch. Being able to text before classes and during lunch would allow the students to not have to sneak around. Each and every teacher knows that we text during their before or class and during lunch, so if they would give us permission it would not be such a big deal. Although the vast majority of teens surveyed said they’ve been able to fly under the radar while texting in class.First of all most students will say the only reason they text during a class is because of the big deal it make, the teachers make such a fuse about it. Texting is apart of the teen culture, but sometimes we do not even think about it during class we just feel it vibrate and pull it out as if we was at our house. The survey found that 17 percent of the kids who text in class said they did so "constantly" and more than half say they text friends who are sitting in the same class; 22 percent said they’ve texted answers to classmates struggling to answer a teacher’s question. Many teachers believe that students only use texting during school hours to cheat. However, it is simply not true that we just want to text during school to cheat, we want to text during school is just another way for us to talk to our friends that we might not have that class period with or we do not go to the same school. However if teachers would just allow us to text there would not be such huge disagreement among the students and teachers.

My Thinking:
This paragraph is based mainly on deductive reasoning because there is many facts used in the paragraph above.

Robert Cormier's book The Chocolate War

A wonderful theme for this book would have to be courage. First chapter tells about Jerry a character who has the courage to stand up for the physical pain in football practice and inside the locker-room. Jerry's mother also died, and he has had a lot of courage to keep going with the emotional pain.

The football teams decided to do a sale for fundraising, so they voted on a chocolate sale. All of the students agreed to do it except Jerry, the difficult hard headed one. That shows a sign of courage standing up for himself by saying no to something he did not want to do.

Robert Cormier's writing style is different then the way most authors write their books. Having lots of profanity and several bold references to sexual activities. Also having a variety of profound words used in the writing of this book to help explain the way their emotional were. He could have left out these parts and most likely still have a really good book. There are also quite a few references to masturbation and guys fantasies about females in ways that should not be said in this book. Rude comments to and about females.

A Chocolate War compares to the real life of today. Kids having to take stand for themselves because of other students or even teachers, some ways can be good as of other ways being not so much on the good side. Many kids want to rebel against pretty much anything anything that adults want to be done. Jerry its really a rebel but he is just not going to do the chocolate sale with the others.

I recommend this book to others who enjoy fun and exciting books but also if you do not mind reading about sexual refrences and they profanity that is used. This is a book that even I might just have to read again.

Bullied :/

Nobody likes to be bullied by anyone especially when you go to school and being bullied there by people who are suppose to be your friends. One day, while walking to lunch two of my friends Jojo and Bobo was walking one behind the other on the side of my. I did not really put the pieces together of one behind and one to the side of me, but Jojo pushed me a little then BoBo pushed me. Being all fun and a game to us three I continued to play along. They both then began pushing hard and more violent, I started getting a little hurt by the lockers I kept getting pushed into. Fun and games went away because I was getting injured and pain was coming to my right side of the body. Still going along with everything, being afraid of the outcome if I had told them to stop. Jojo and BoBo are the bully's for pushing me into the lockers.
