Days Go Bye

As we grow up,
Before our parents want us to,
While leaving every night,
Whenever we should not,
I remember the days all we wanted to do was play.

Whenever life was all about jokes,
Before it was full of drama,
While we played and laughed,
As the merry-go-round was spinning,
I remember the days where we did not care.

The Blind Side Book Review

The Blind Side By- Michael Lewis

Theme of this book is never to give up no matter what happens in life, always take a chance and believe every second because everything can take a huge turn.A young man name Michael Oher has no chance in life, living on the street doing his best to live by whatever he can.

Style is very different using words and meanings that help express the feelings of the people and even the author. Writing in many ways to show there is a different expression for each and every paragraph. I love the fact that the book is more about real life then just a fairy tale.

Michael Oher is the main character in this book. As the story goes on, you then meet a wonderful loving and caring family the Tuohy's. Michael and the Tuohy family become very close to once another. They take him in as their own and raise him to be an amazing football player and young man.t Becoming apart of the family he fitted perfectly in. Enjoyed watching football and even other sports. Tuohy's became a family that Michael never really had.

Setting is during the fall time with lots of rain and leaves falling everywhere. Plus it is the season every fan loves the most which is football. Michael does not go to school, until he meets the Tuohy family, never played football, I guess you can say he never really had a child hood like most teens do. Michael was very protected of his family and did not want anything bad to happen, so he did his best to protect.

The Blind Side, is an amazing book, at first I did not think I would like just because the fact that football is the setting. Reading this book chanced my thoughts about many ideas that pop in and out of my head. We should love everything about our life because some day we might not have it. Michael had nothing and whenever he did get the chance to have anything, he did not take advantage.

If you enjoy sports and love hearing about miracles in others life I believe you should read this book and see where Michael and the Tuohy family ended up and also how much they had to battle.

Agrument: Texting in School

Assertion/Claim:
  • Students should be able to text before classes and during lunch.

Evidence:
Being able to text before classes and during lunch would allow the students to not have to sneak around.
  • Commentary 1: Each and every teacher knows that we text during their before or class and during lunch, so if they would give us permission it would not be such a big deal.
  • Commentart 2: Althoug the vast majority of teens surveyed said they’ve been able to fly under the radar while texting in class.

Most students will say the only reason they text during a class is because of the big deal it makes.
  • Commentary 1: It is apart of the teen culture to text,  but sometimes we do not even think about it during class we just feel it vibrate and pull it out as if we was at our house.
  • Commentart 2:The survey found that 17 percent of the kids who text in class said they did so "constantly" and more than half say they text friends who are sitting in the same class; 22 percent said they’ve texted answers to classmates struggling to answer a teacher’s question.
Opposing Claims/they say:
  • Many teachers believe that students only use texting during school hours to cheat.
My Rebuttal/I say/:
  • However, it is simply not true that we just want to text during school to cheat, we want to text during school is just another way for us to talk to our friends that we might not have that class period with or we do not go to the same school.
My Paragraph
Students should be able to text before classes and during lunch. Being able to text before classes and during lunch would allow the students to not have to sneak around. Each and every teacher knows that we text during their before or class and during lunch, so if they would give us permission it would not be such a big deal. Although the vast majority of teens surveyed said they’ve been able to fly under the radar while texting in class.First of all most students will say the only reason they text during a class is because of the big deal it make, the teachers make such a fuse about it. Texting is apart of the teen culture, but sometimes we do not even think about it during class we just feel it vibrate and pull it out as if we was at our house. The survey found that 17 percent of the kids who text in class said they did so "constantly" and more than half say they text friends who are sitting in the same class; 22 percent said they’ve texted answers to classmates struggling to answer a teacher’s question. Many teachers believe that students only use texting during school hours to cheat. However, it is simply not true that we just want to text during school to cheat, we want to text during school is just another way for us to talk to our friends that we might not have that class period with or we do not go to the same school. However if teachers would just allow us to text there would not be such huge disagreement among the students and teachers.

My Thinking:
This paragraph is based mainly on deductive reasoning because there is many facts used in the paragraph above.

Robert Cormier's book The Chocolate War

A wonderful theme for this book would have to be courage. First chapter tells about Jerry a character who has the courage to stand up for the physical pain in football practice and inside the locker-room. Jerry's mother also died, and he has had a lot of courage to keep going with the emotional pain.

The football teams decided to do a sale for fundraising, so they voted on a chocolate sale. All of the students agreed to do it except Jerry, the difficult hard headed one. That shows a sign of courage standing up for himself by saying no to something he did not want to do.

Robert Cormier's writing style is different then the way most authors write their books. Having lots of profanity and several bold references to sexual activities. Also having a variety of profound words used in the writing of this book to help explain the way their emotional were. He could have left out these parts and most likely still have a really good book. There are also quite a few references to masturbation and guys fantasies about females in ways that should not be said in this book. Rude comments to and about females.

A Chocolate War compares to the real life of today. Kids having to take stand for themselves because of other students or even teachers, some ways can be good as of other ways being not so much on the good side. Many kids want to rebel against pretty much anything anything that adults want to be done. Jerry its really a rebel but he is just not going to do the chocolate sale with the others.

I recommend this book to others who enjoy fun and exciting books but also if you do not mind reading about sexual refrences and they profanity that is used. This is a book that even I might just have to read again.

Bullied :/

Nobody likes to be bullied by anyone especially when you go to school and being bullied there by people who are suppose to be your friends. One day, while walking to lunch two of my friends Jojo and Bobo was walking one behind the other on the side of my. I did not really put the pieces together of one behind and one to the side of me, but Jojo pushed me a little then BoBo pushed me. Being all fun and a game to us three I continued to play along. They both then began pushing hard and more violent, I started getting a little hurt by the lockers I kept getting pushed into. Fun and games went away because I was getting injured and pain was coming to my right side of the body. Still going along with everything, being afraid of the outcome if I had told them to stop. Jojo and BoBo are the bully's for pushing me into the lockers.

Homecoming Week

This week being our homecoming week makes me very excited and makes me not so excited. The fact that we aren't having our regular homecoming dance makes me not so excited but im excited that we are at less having a dance even though its like two weeks after our homecoming game.

I'm super excited and pumped about our game this Friday against  Blytheville, even though I won't be the physical im there in the players hearts. Playing against the Chickasaws. It's going to be a great game and I believe that the Pioneers are going to show them how it's done. GOOD LUCK PIONEERS!!!

Spirit week has been interesting, walking around the school and seeing it decorative is awesome. Watching everybody dress up each day is fun to see, i love just seating there and watch everybody walk by in there outfit for that day. Messy Monday wasn't my day, Tropical Tuesday not it either, Western Wednesday now that's my thing, and now today is Twisted aka "thug" Thursday so funny seeing a bunch of country people acting and dressing like thugs.

I love when we have homecoming games because that's the only time our school gets decorated and it looks amazing. I love walking around in our colorful school during spirit week.

My Antonia Book Review

Willa Cather's  My Antonia is very eye catching. This was a very interesting book but i wouldn't want to read it again.
A great theme for this book would be, when everything around you gets tough, just keep on going don't stop. Someone reading this book could learn that they should never give up in something just because they have been told they are going to fail. The author's writing style is very easy to read and understand what is being said. There are two main characters Antonia and Jim. Jim is a boy that falls in love with Antonia in the beginning of the book. Antonia is a girl whom has to move to different states and is very poor. Most of the setting is done in Nebraska out in the country. It is a place where nobody really goes. They both Antonia and Jim move to Black Hawk, Nebraska and they become really good friends from there. Jim tries to push Antonia to learning English and getting an education. But things don't turn out the way they planned them to. Jim goes to college then to Harvard. Antonia has children and Jim becomes far apart from Antonia. Jim then gets married to Lena and still has feelings for Antonia. Everything falls apart but then in another way they fall together. I made a few connections to Antonia and even to Jim.
This is a book that I may read again or not just depends

4 Paragraphs

TIME PIONEER: Matt Berg

Children are all of this world, but there are so many children whom need help more than others may need. Leading the push to track the diseases in Africa by using my cell phone and a text message or SMS.
As a technoloy director for ChildCount+, I help to see networks of community-health workers who constantly examine local children in their area, treating their ills and then texting back the status of every single sick child they find in the area.
This allows me to be able to understand more about what i need to find for this child to get well.
ChildCount+ has been in existence for only nine months and has already reported more than 20,000 nutrition screenings, 500 cases of malnutrition and 2,000 of malaria.
My colleagues are now scaling up to monitor more than 100,000 children under 5. The use of technology in Africa has long been my passion. I helped establish the Rural Technology Lab in Mali, so local students can take over the job of ensuring their communities' health, but not just helping the communities but also helping me.

CAREER DAY:
UACCB career day didn't sound like it would be that much fun, I'm not going to lie I didnt
want to go. But once we got there and the speaker began to talk and tell his story that just inspired
me to make this day worth it. So I sat there and thought about all the opposition's we have today as
choices of jobs. It showed me that there are many jobs out there but only once can fit me. I went to
three different sessions about three different types of jobs that I have on my mind that maybe
someday I want to do. A different outlook on life with many career topics.
Growing up we get all these ideas in our head on what we want to be when we are older.
Some say firefighter others say police officer. I was one of the others, the thought of being a
police woman and protecting the area in which I lived in made me happy. Someone who saves
and protects their community is a person I wouldn't mind being. When we are young we dream of
being a hero. Showing people that you can have fun by doing whats right without breaking
any laws. I have always thought that police officers were out to get to us but after going to this
session i see that they are just trying to protect us. They don't just sit around eating donuts and
drinking coffee either like everybody thinks, life for them isn't as easy as it looks like it is on
television.
Sports are something I have always enjoyed and I hope i will continue enjoying through
out life. Well since I love sports I have thought bout being a coach. Loving basketball so much i
wouldn't mind being a basketball coach some where but I would rather work with high schoolers
or college students. Being involved with students that enjoy the same as I do makes it that much
more interesting for me. Never thinking being a coach could be that hard but after talking with
Coach Jenkins about becoming a coach and everything you do it is harder than what it seems.
Coaching is something that seems like a would love because i loving being involved with others
and being in control of things. Leading a team to state would be nice also.
Having different topics is a good way to start off in a career and that's what visual and
performing arts session did. Talking about how you need to start your career in singing, writing
plays and acting. Giving us information on places that is good references to use for our future.
Acting is something i would be more interested in just because i'm pretty great at acting i got to
say. I love being a different person when i can on stage. Performing for others has always
sounded fun and i'm sure i would enjoy it more than the writing part, so if others write it then i can
act it.
Having the time to go and hear about different careers helped me limit my opposition's for
my future. I would have to say the one i would want to have most to become my career is being a
coach, because i love sports and coaching seems like it would fit me better. I want to follow my
own dream not somebody else's so that's just what im going to do. Career day actually helped me
a lot not going to lie.

ENVIRONMENT:
How/Why do you think people should show respect to the environment?

People never think about the environment that we have today and how they destroy it. But I have took some time and thought about to ways to respect it. People need to learn to respect the environment a lot more than what they do!! There are many ways that we can respect the environment more but it will take more than just one person in the town.

One way is throwing away trash and recycling what needs to be. If we don't throw stuff out the windows and thrown stuff on the ground it would keep our area much prettier. Recycling can save our resources. So stop throwing trash out the windows just hold on to it until you find a trash can to throw it away properly.

Another way to protect the environment is car pulling, if more than ten cars are going to the same place and only has about one or two people in it hook up with other people who are also going. Saving gas does save our environment also. We can also save money by not wasting gas.

ANTONIA AS MOTHER EARTH:

Comparing Antonia to Mother Earth can be very out of the ordinary. Antonia can be very motherly when she wants to be. When she was living with her family as a child, she took care of all of her family. As she got a little older and had kids, she did become a true mother and already knew how to mother them. Mother Earth is very motherly, as in her name shows her to be. Mother Earth shows fertility. Antonia is obviously fertile because she had lots of children and cares for each of them. Antonia has to be full of emotions because of all of the things she has been through. Mother Earth also shows emotional nourishment. I think that it is obvious that Antonia can be compared to Mother Earth easily.

The Chosen Theme

I chose "Writing Makes Me Fly" because i love to express myself using something i enjoy to do, pole-vaulting makes me feel so free when I am out there doing the jumps and  just flying through the air. So i guess you could say i chose this blog title cause its an easy way for me to compare my pole-vaulting to my writing.

Through out this i plan on writing about the way my writing helps me with the steps in pole-vaulting later on this year.

Writing is going to be over rated with many story's about pole-vaulting. I love to pole-vault so i was like hey why not write about it.

May need help so feel free to comment or message me, do whatever it takes and leave me an awesome idea.
